Hello Book Lovers!

Welcome to my one woman book club. My name is Arriana and I love to read! I hope you do too. It is a wonderful relaxation and beneficiary to your mind, body, and soul.
I can still remember going to the library as a kid. I always tagged along with my mom when she went there to do her research papers. I would take out three books at a time while she studied. I loved the smell of the texts, the quiet atmosphere that being surrounded by lots of books bring, and the ability to get lost in the pages. It is almost therapeutic.
Reading is fundamental and what better way to appreciate and love it than by reading a GOOD BOOK. If you're not a believer in the benefits of reading and the advantage of a good book, I have listed a short article below which will hopefully help to change your mind.

"Five Benefits of Reading a Good Book!" by Alok Vats

Many people do not know where to find a good book and that is one of the reasons I decided to create this blog. I remember reading a saga by Stephanie Meyer as a teenager and it was very addictive. It was like a really bad but really good soap opera that I could not stop tuning in for. Then, when I finished reading all four books, I thought, "now what?" I did not know where to find the next great book. Nowadays, I just take my chances on books I find at the library, I hear about from other people, or Barnes and Noble. Luckily my book lovers will not have to do that because I will guide you in picking up the right book with my book reviews. Stay along for the journey to good reads! Also, if you know a good book that others would enjoy reading, feel free to share it in the comments of my blog.

  1. I have the same voracity for reading! My daycare teacher was so adamant about reading that she would give us paragraphs from short stories and write a sentence on what we thought of the excerpt. I had homework in daycare! From then I developed a love for reading and analyzing.

    1. Wow, homework in daycare? That's so funny, but I respect your teacher's dedication. I'm glad she something as important and fun as reading, to love and cherish. I think reading and analyzing go hand in hand. After reading a great book, you can't turn your brain off from picking things apart that happened between the pages. I would love to know what some of your favorite books are. Feel free to share them with some fellow book lovers :)

  2. I am personally a huge bookworm, hence why I am studying English. However, the book the book that you mentioned was one of my top priorities to read. Already the story sounds appealing and entertaining. I personally think that your blog will attract book lovers to congregate and have talks about great literature. I wasn’t really ever a fan if “Twilight” because it was a read for entertainment, nothing thought-provoking or new came out of the story but cliche events that leads to boy and girl living happily ever after during some type of turmoil. I am not saying that it’s a terrible book but it’s just too simplified. However, your book review was great and I actually plan to get the book once reading your opinion about it.

    1. Yes, Rachel! I have great visions for this blog! To bring book lovers together so we can share our thoughts on books, authors, or anything else worth talking about.
Hahaha, that is exactly what those Twilight books did for me, entertain. Like I explained in my post, it was "like a really bad but good soap opera I could not stop tuning in for." Would I read them again? Probably not, but the books served their purpose for the leisure and merriment they gave me when I read them long ago. However, do not ask me about the movies; that is an entirely different ball game.
I hope you do get "Dreamland." It is worth a read.
Also, let me know what genre of books you like, I can put up some other books I love in the category you choose, or feel free to share some you love as well. :)

  3. Arriana,
I'm on the bookworm train with you guys sitting in the first-class coach with you while being transported to amazing places and introduced to unfamiliar characters and cultures by simply turning a page in a book. I've seen people with Nooks or other electronic readers but for me they cannot replace the sensory experience of holding and reading a book. I have so many books that I've recently taken to getting books from the library so I that I can read them and return them. I like Creative Writing and reading helps my writing. I look forward to your recommendations.

  4. I love your enthusiasm jdaven. If you love books, you are in a safe zone here.
Those electronic readers are okay, but I agree that books and their "old-fashion" style are irreplaceable. The downside is although they are irreplaceable, they seem to be on the verge of extinction in mega bookstores. I look at the upside to these technology advancements as an opportunity for mom and pop bookstore shops to come back. Maybe they will, maybe they will not. Maybe we should buy all the books on the shelves before they disappear. Haha.
Thank you for taking the time out to comment on my blog. Feel free to mention a favorite book of your own.

  5. I felt the same way when I completed the Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyer. I went from one book to the next, I was so consumed haha. Everything went by so quickly, and by the I knew it, this amazing high was over. I'm still searching for a good read that has a similar theme to Meyer's books. Any Suggestions?

  6. Hey Arriana, I have to say books are not always too fun some I have to say are very interesting and exciting but some are just a bore. I rather enjoy books from Shakespeare and Nathaniel Hawthorne because it challenges the brain which is very good for a growing mind. You really cannot judge a book by its cover can you? Since you like books so much can you recommend any pleasurable books? I try to read more and more to increase my vocabulary whenever I have time but I always end up with the boring books. So if you could help me out I would be very grateful.

  7. I hate to say this but I can't remember the last time I sat down and read a book with out being required to do so, I know it may be shocking but with the internet being so popular I hardly find time. I really admire you for being so passionate about books, I know alot of my friends are all about technology; you hardly ever see someone actually reading a book. Paperback book that is. I'd love to see your taste in books you prefer in later post.

    1. Thank you. I'm glad my blog appeals to you. Books can be quite underrated nowadays.
Technology is the wave of the future, especially when it comes to books. That trend does not seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Hopefully this blog can bring back a nostalgic feeling to book lovers and former book lovers who have crossed over to the dark side(kindles, nooks, etc.).

  9. Books, books and more books. I hate it all. Knowlegde, is said to be power, but what kind of power do you receive when all the knowledge is from someone else ideaology and believes, all scricpted in some white sheets, bounded together by force with either threads, staple guns or industrial gums, and then sold to enrich the writer.
As much as i love to hate books, having being judged by it all of my life, still, i cant imagine how my life would have turned without the same books. therefore, i have to keep reading them before i face my next Judge.
